To set up the Wi-Fi Internet connection please search for available Wi-Fi networks and choose Your Apartments. Then use this WEP key: 0002CF9E5EC60

How to get from the airport to the apartment?

To get to the apartment from the Airport, you can take a taxi from the Airport for the price of 600 crowns. Just tell your driver to drop you at Cafe Louvre, on Narodni street. He'll know.

Or you can take public transport, it takes something like 30 minutes to get to the apartment. Make sure to buy a transport ticket for 26 crowns at one of the yellow ticket machines and validate it when you get on the bus. You only have to validate it once, so just keep it with you till you reach the apartment.

First, hop on the bus 119 to Dejvicka. When you reach Dejvicka, it is the green metro line, go down and get on the metro. Take it to the Mustek station, 5 stops, and then get off. Here you need to change metro lines to the yellow line. Once on the yellow line take it one stop to Narodni Trida and get out there. When you exit the metro turn right and take a left at the first street. That's Narodni (National Street), and your apartment is located just a few doors down (Narodni 22) on the left between the entrances to Le Patio and Cafe Louvre.

How to get to the apartment from Main Train Station?

The simplest way to reach the apartment from the main railway station (Hlavni Nadrazi) is by tram. After exiting the main station turn right and walk down to the tram stop but don't forget to buy a transport pass for 18 crowns in the train station at one of the yellow ticket machines, you will need to validate the ticket when you get on the tram. Hop on the number 9 tram and take it 5 stops to the Narodni Trida tram stop.

Get off and walk up to the main street. Turn left, that's Narodni (National street), your apartment entrance is only a few doors down on the left hand side (Narodni 22) between the entrance to Le Patio restaurant and Cafe Louvre. You can't miss it.

Is it possible to use EURO in Czech Republic?

It is possible to use EURO in many stores and restaurants but the official curency is the Czech Crown (Czk). I don' recommend using Euro as it is cheaper and hassle free to use Czech Crowns. The best way to get Czk is probably to withdraw the cash from an ATM machine.

Is Prague safe?

Prague is reasonably safe. According to the Czech Tourist Agency Prague is the 17th safest city in the world and the 2nd safest city in Central Europe. Of course it's always better to be safe than sorry. Don't exchange money on the street. Don't leave your bags unattended. Don't do anything that you wouldn't consider safe at home :)

Where to exchange money?

The cheapest and best rates can be had in any bank. Nearly every bank in the center has a currency exchange inside for major international currencies: Canadian, Australian, and American dollar, Euro, British Pound, Swiss Franc, Japanese Yen, etc. There is a bank located just across the street from your apartment called Ceska Sporitelna. Just stop in.

You can also use the independent currency exchange offices located on almost every corner in the old town. The only drawback is a lower exchange rate and occassionally a processing fee. When using a bank they charge only 2-3 percent for the exchange but the independent ones can charge up to 10 percent.

Where to buy groceries?

Tesco is the closest and best supermarket to your apartment and it is just a minute away. When you leave the apartment turn right, Tesco is right on the corner across the street. Head downstairs for the grocery store, first floor for all your cosmetic, toiletry, and liquor needs, and the fourth floor for electronics like batteries, electricity convertors etc.

Where to get food during the night?

Before 2:00 AM KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) is available just across the street from your apartment. Also, just down to the left from KFC you will find a 24 hour corner store for snacks and sandwiches. Around the corner from your apartment near the metro entrance at Narodni Trida you will find a couple of 24 fast food places serving gyros, pizza, and fried cheese.

Where to get traditional Czech food?

There are lots of different places that serve great Czech food. One of my favorites is a place called U Novaku located one street behind the apartment and about 200m down. Another great place behind the apartment is U Fleku (see map), a traditional Czech "Hospoda" serving up pork favorites, dumplings, and cabbage along with the very best Czech Pilsner all to the sound of an accordion led band. One other close place is called U Medviku with a unique beer flavored ice cream that's a must. When you leave the apartment cross the street and hang a left, it's just a few doors down on the left.

When looking at the map U fleku is in red, U novaku is located on Ostrovni Street, and U medviku is on Na Perstyne.

Where can I borrow a car?

There are several car rental agencies in and around Old Town including Avis and Hertz. The Hertz car rental is the closest and is located at Karlovo namesti one tram stop away on the number 6, 18, and 22 trams. When you exit the tram it is on the right hand sideof the street next to the Albert grocery store in the courtyard. You will have to walk through the passage to the interior courtyard.

How to use metro (subway) and other public transport?

It is essential to buy either single tickets for each ride on public transport or you may buy a 1-day, 3-day, 5-day or weekly pass. Single tickets are 26 Czech crowns per ride per person and can be bought at each metro station from the yellow automated ticket machines using coins. Before the escalators on the metro and inside trams and buses you will see a yellow ticket validating box. Just stick the ticket in and the ticket will be stamped with the time. You can then ride any form of public transport for 75 minutes.

The 1, 3, 5, and 7 day passes can be bought at the ticket booths at the Mustek station. The prices vary for the number of days you purchase but it's an easier and cheaper way of travelling if you're going to be in the city for a longer time. You will need to validate the ticket just like any other but then you must keep it with you at all times when on public transport. It works for all forms of transport including buses, metro, and trams, and is unlimited. In case you are caught by one of the ticket inspectors without a valid ticket you will have to pay a one time 700 Czech crown fine which is 200 crowns more than the 5 day ticket, so don't get caught make sure you get a ticket!
